More about our Mission
In 2004, under the leadership of Mr. Babichan, our family unit was founded with 8 families gathering at Robin John’s house. Initially, we encountered numerous challenges due to the absence of Syro-Malabar priests to guide us. Later that year, Father Sebastian Arikkattu began serving at Blessed Robert Grissold Catholic Church in Balsall Common for the English community. Through persistent efforts and Mr. Babichan’s dedication, Father Sebastian Arikkattu eventually joined us in Coventry to help establish our church. With the support and permission of Father Bob at St. John Fisher Church, Father Arikattu conducted the first Syro-Malabar mass in Coventry on the second Sunday of September 2004, with only 48 attendees present.
Since then, the Malayali community in Coventry has been blessed with the opportunity to attend Malayalam Mass every second Sunday, and our community has grown steadily. In 2009, Father Soji Olikkal joined us as our church priest. The first trustees of Coventry Mission, Mr. Jacob Kurian and Mr. Babichan were elected in 2009. Catechism classes began in Coventry in September 2009, with Mr. Jaimon elected as the head teacher. From January 2010 onwards, we initiated a Syro-Malabar mass tradition every first Wednesday of the month at Holy Family Church, Holbrooks. Although we regularly gathered for prayer and fellowship, our community was officially established in 2010.
In April 2010, Father Soji organized all families into sub-units, each with designated leaders. In 2014, Mr Paulson Mathew was elected as the first family unit coordinator. In 2015, Father Sebastian Namattathil joined us as our chaplain, expanding Malayalam Mass to be held every fourth Sunday. In 2016, Father Sebastian visited and blessed every family within our community.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
You have followed God's light and the way of the Gospel now lies before you.
For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.
